I wanted to try and solve this problem through the education of primary school aged children (7-11-year-olds), who could hear. The transition between primary and secondary school is the time period where many deaf children experienced the most problems, and so tackling the problem before this transition was a key target area for this project.
This took the form of an educational pack, consisting of a stop motion video, a booklet, stickers, and cards that taught children the basics of sign language that they could use in and around school.

Stop motion video created as part of the educational pack - this video followed the narrative of what hearing loss is, what it feels like, what are the negative aspects of deafness, and then what we can all do to make a difference in deaf childrens lives. The stop motion was created by hand, using shapes and letters cut from card.
